Seafood Anyone?

My local lace group are busy making fish, ready for a display somewhere. (Japan I think) This is part of my effort, as there is another side to this fish yet to happen, then he is to be padded. This little fish was certainly something different for me. I had tight curves to deal with, sharp corners with sewings, adding in pairs, & brushing up on how to work a spider ( yes , it has been a while!) The thread was also a bit of a challenge. I used a variagated green crochet thread combined with a green metallic for the passives, and as always, the metallic did not want to play nice. I persevered though & this little fellow is the result.

Wow, I'll be happy just to make a bookmark when I start to learn bobbin lace !! The curves and angles look really hard, I just can't imagine how you'd do them. The fish is huge, and a lot more detailed than some I saw donated at LD this month. Great work as usual.

Beautiful work, and isn't metallic thread a pain to work with, although the end effect is always lovely.

Jenny, the fish is absolutely gorgeous!!!! I don't know that I want to try metallic threads with my bobbin lace as I'm still a beginner, but maybe a few years down the road I might try the fish. I'm okay with adding in pairs, but sharp corners are still tricky and I've not tried curves. So much to learn.
